Prime Minister Sanchez's party must cease support for the communist dictatorship of Cuba, and its defense of communism, the VOX leaders stressed.

Four European Parliament deputies, the Spanish Conservative party's VOX members in the letter, accused the ruling party of current Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez of a secret meeting with the high representative of the Cuban regime.

President of European Conservatives and Reformist Group Herman Tertsch, Chief of Vox EU Parliament Delegation Jorge Buxade, and the deputies Margarita de la Pisa, Mazali Aquillar signed the letter, dated February 10, 2022.

The alleged meeting of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party delegation led by Mr. Julio Navalotro took place in Havana on January 23, 2022. The author of the letter described the talks as secret. Cuba's Communist Party represented the deputy director and coordinator of the Department of International Relations Mr. Angel Arzuaga Keyes.

According to the letter, Spanish socialists discussed the achievements of the 7th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba.

All of this happened when the Cuban Communists unleashed a brutal escalation of terror against a population.  The regime systematically violates fundamental freedoms and human rights, the authors of the letter stressed.

In the letter addressed to the President of the Progressive Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, the VOX leaders demanded that the deputies would condemn the Cuba regime as a dictatorship, cease all contacts with the Communist Party of Cuba, and comply with the Parliament's resolution on the totalitarian ideology of communism.

Condemn, once and for all and without hesitation, the repression, the continued violations of human rights, assassinations, torture, and enforced disappearances - also of minors in Cuba, the VOX leaders stated.

The authors of the letter said that they are concerned about the complacency of the EU officials, including the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, towards the communist regime in Cuba.
