Prisoners Defenders: Cuban Regime Wants To Kill José Daniel Ferrer With Tortures
Cuban Prisoners Defenders appealed on Monday to world leaders for help to Cuban political prisoner and UNPACU leader José Daniel Ferrer García.
The organization's president, Javier Larrondo, said that the prisoner "is being buried alive" in prison, subjected to physical and psychological torture.
According to Mr. Larrondo, these tortures are designed to destroy Mr. Ferrer body and mind; cause him the emotional, mental and physical collapse that could lead to his physical death or mental sickness.
Mr. Larrondo also recalled the commitments made during the 2005 World Summit, where “all the heads of states and governments on the planet affirmed their responsibility to protect populations against genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity ”.
It cannot be denied that democratic leaders who have contacts with the Cuban regime do not do their utmost to save this world, Mr. Lorando stated pointing at the example of Mr. José Daniel Ferrer.
I want to emphasise he is being buried alive and slowly dying, he added.
Mr. Ferrer on Friday, December 3, talked with his family during a telephone call from prison that lasted just over three minutes. The phone call was recorded. In the call, the opposition leaders refers to Human Rights Day, which is celebrated on December 10.
In a week, the free world will commemorate 73rd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is a party in democratic world. This day is celebrated because of it is important for humanity, Mr Ferrer stated.
"I will continue to defend the fundamental rights"
The political prisoner recalled that, at the end of 2021, it will also be 73 years since a Cuban delegation, when Cuba was democratic, in 1948, had its input in the draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Mr. Ferrer pointed at the contrast between this fact and the reality that in Cuba where all human rights are violated to a greater or lesser extent.
We need to join forces; with our best efforts, energy, courage for the defense of the human rights of all Cubans and of all peoples living without human rights, he said.
I will continue to defend the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Cuban people until God allows it, concluded the UNPACU leader.
Mr. José Daniel Ferrer García was arrested during the day of the anti-Communist national uprising in Cuba on July 11 and, according to a document from the Prosecutor's Office released by his family.
He must serve four years and 14 days in prison for, allegedly, having failed to comply with the requirements of limitation of freedom.
