"Russian Orthodox Church Worships a God Of War"

“Everything is positioned in the service of the god of war within that church. That god is bloodthirsty; he demands human blood", said the archpriest Andrei Kordochkin, who, after twenty years of service under Moscow, defected to the Constantinople Orthodox Church.
On Friday, Fr Kordochkin explained in an interview with a Russian-emigree reporter why the current position of the Moscow Church regarding war contradicts Christianity.
A religious defector said the Moscow-led Russian Orthodox Church is serving the god of war. “All is positioned in the service of the god of war within that church. That god is bloodthirsty with an unsatiable appetite; he demands human blood and human sacrifice. Therefore, here we are, of course, discussing some things incompatible and contradictory to Christianity.”
The former Russian priest said that the Moscow Patriarch copied Roman Catholic Popes who motivated soldiers to join the crusades into the Holy Land. "Now, in the twenty-first century, this rhetoric returned," he emphasized, explaining that the Patriarch's assurance of sin's remittance for participants in the war against Ukraine was akin to Pope Urban's absolution given before the crusades.
Fr Kordochkin also said that the Russian Orthodox Church evolved the mouthpiece of military propaganda. He added that the Church was consciously constructing a new religious ideology. Its central myth was Russian superiority over the remaining civilization and their right to wage holy war to extend their order. "The medieval religious vocabulary returned to justify war and explain it as sacred."
