Vietnam Demands China Respect Exclusive Economic Zone

Communist China's military announced drill in the East Vietnam Sea.

Vietnam demanded that Beijing respect and not violate the former’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, spokesperson of the Communist country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang replying to reporters' questions about the possible Chinese violations of Vietnam sovereignty.

Vietnam always keeps a close watch on the developments in the East Vietnam Sea and exercises its sovereignty, sovereignty rights, and jurisdictions at sea in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the diplomat continued, according to Reuters wire.

But according to media present at the conference Vietnamese official at one point appeared to reveal her concerns about the situation when she admitted that Vietnam learned about the drill from Chinese military media.

Vietnam demands that China respect and not violate the former’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, and not take actions to complicate the situation, thus contributing to the maintenance of peace, security, and stability in the East Vietnam Sea, the spokesperson stated.

Beijing stated that drill that started on March 4 and would end 11 days later in the East Vietnam Sea section between Vietnam and China’s Hainan Province.
