In the special report and at the press conference US State Secretary Antony Blinken stated that the genocide against Uyghurs is taking place in Communist China.

The United States called out Communist China’s repression of Uighur in the new report on 2020 Human Rights Practices.

During the press conference Mr. Blinken with the word "genocide" described atrocities taking place in East Turkistan called by Chinese Xinjiang

We see it in the genocide being committed against the predominantly Muslim Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang, he stated referring to the deterioration of human rights in the world.

US State Secretary, who under the law is an author of the report, confirmed that the Beijing regime has been perpetrating crimes aimed to destroy the ethnic group, the nation of Uyghurs.

Genocide and crimes against humanity occurred during the year against the predominantly Muslim Uyghurs and other ethnic and religious minority groups in Xinjiang, the author the report stated.

The report named arbitrary or unlawful killings by the government; forced disappearances by the government; torture by the government; harsh and life-threatening prison and detention conditions; arbitrary detention by the government, including the mass detention ,which together constitute the crime of genocide.

In addition to the “more than one million” Uighurs and other Muslim ethnic minority groups it said were in extrajudicial internment camps, the report said there were “an additional two million subjected to daytime-only ‘re-education’ training”, a new reference not included in the previous year’s report.

Mr. Blinken pointed at the Global Magnitsky Act as a means to stop abuses. He also emphasised the role of targeted economic sanctions reminding of the recent unified action of the United States, Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom against individuals engaged in atrocities being committed against the Uyghurs in Xinjiang.
