UN Admits Nicaragua Tortures Political Prisoners

The relentless persecution of dissent and impunity as a norm, forced separation of children from their parents, and violation of other core democratic principles characterize the governance by Nicaragua authorities, the UN said on Tuesday.

 

The bill passed the lower house of parliament, the National Assembly, with a 349-186 vote late Tuesday. It had previously been voted by the Senate.
